Not yet in service but having completed a commission for Rheinmetall for what was Challenger 2 Life Extension Program which now hangs in their offices, I felt I should do Challenger 3 for the public and this is the result.
Challenger 2 was a fine tank and yet, Rheinmetall have made improvements. They have fitted their 120mm smoothbore main armament, but in order to achieve that it required a complete redesign and build of the turret to accommodate both the gun and one piece ammunition. A new fire control system has also been fitted to improve the 'lethality' of the tank as well as improvements to the engine.
