Before we move out of the cold war era, lets take a look at what else required Armoured Vehicle variants. The Royal Engineers - Armoured Engineers, were equipped with the Chieftain Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers. This print depicts the Chieftain AVRE. Fitted with a mine plough with which to clear a path through enemy minefields while carrying fascines - large bundles of pipes which, when dropped into a ditch or trench, give an instant platform over which armoured vehicles can drive.
