Moving now across to Vietnam, the Americans initially fielded some 600 of their M48 in what, for any tank, would be a difficult terrain in a jungle scenario. Designed as a replacement for the Pershing the tank and armed with a 90mm gun, it performed very well in Vietnam where both the USMC and Army used it extensively in infantry support roles, the crews naturally covering their mounts in various graffitis.
