Back to the business of German armoured vehicles. The previous print of the T34 shows the precursor to the Panther. The Germans were forced to look at the T34's design - the way the vehicle could move across the various Russian landscapes on its wide tracks seemingly unstoppable. Well, anything the Russians could do, the Germans could do better.

And that 'Better' came to be born in the Panther. A sleek looking monster sporting a great combination of the 3 characteristics of Tanks - Firepower, Protection and Mobility. The Panther would be equally as feared as the Tiger models and, developed alongside the next generation of Tiger tank shared many features of its 'big brother'. Initially, the Panther suffered with more than its fair share of teething problems particularly with its transmission. This in part was due to the Germans almost obsessive need to 'over engineer' everything making Panther expensive to build and complicated to repair, Not ideal when fighting a war.

But, once the problems were ironed out, this became a truly great weapons platform, to my mind in fact, regardless of nationality, the outstanding design of the war. If you look at its features of sloped armour etc, many of those characteristics can still be seen in todays modern tanks.
