With the Sherman now firmly in place, Great Britain had designs coming through which, were an improvement over their previous concepts! Still maintaining the Cruiser concept, The Cromwell tank was added to the arsenal. Britain's fastest tank of WW2, The Cromwell was equipped with a Rolls Royce Meteor engine powering the vehicle to some 40 mph. Clad in reasonable armour it's only issue once more was it's turret size which couldn't accommodate a big enough main armament which led to the subsequent development of the Comet. This picture depicts a Cromwell and its crew after DDay taking a snatched break in the French countryside.
