Already included alongside its successor Matilda 2 - I felt this tank deserved a picture on its own. Popular with its crews here we see a Matilda 1 as it would have looked in combat in 1940. Sadly destined quickly for the scrap heap in favour of the Matilda II it was never the less what the War Department brief had demanded. Heavily armoured but woefully armed with a machine gun it did however, provide a good example on how the later variants of Infantry tank should be designed.
